Quintessential Quogue Wedding

March 16, 2016 by inanyeventblog

It’s always fun planning summer weddings in the winter, and vice versa.  As I sat planning listening to the thunder storm outside,  I couldn’t help but think back to Lindsay and Tony’s June wedding at the Brides family home in Quogue. Weather be damned, it was a fabulous celebration.  3 tents and 52 golf umbrellas later… Congratulations Lindsay and Tony, not only on your marriage, but on embracing your day, rain or shine.  Thank you for your trust and allowing me to be part […]

Trend Alert: black lips are back…again

March 4, 2016 by inanyeventblog

Just when we’d all gotten our nude lip color just right, black lips are back.  Let’s face it, we all went through a Goth phase for a week or two (or was that just me?). But black lips are nothing new. In fact, the first mention of black lipstick can be traced back to ancient Egypt, around 4000 BC.  Apparently, Egyptian women (and men) were not afraid to make a bold color statement with make up. In Hollywood’s heyday of […]

So nice to be featured again in Carats & Cake, this time, showing Kathryn and David’s Lenox wedding at the Wheatleigh.  I never tire of looking at these photos by Heather Waraksa.

Reflections at Rainbow Room

February 8, 2016 by inanyeventblog

Here we are, already in February and I’m only just getting around to looking at the photos of Jessie and Jeff’s magnificent November wedding at the Rainbow Room. Thanks Lilian Haidar for the lovely photos. There were many discussions about color palette for the Rainbow Room.  Ultimately, we decided upon a combination of mixed metals and crystal which already exist in the newly renovated landmark space.  Flowers were an amazing collaboration between Claire Bean and Jessy Wolvek of Fleurs. Vintage family wedding […]

The Smoking Gun

November 12, 2015 by inanyeventblog

Once upon a time, I had a 22 course tasting at Brooklyn Fare Chef’s Table.  No, that’s not a typo.  22 courses.  By the 10th course (and a bottle of wine), I was having a pretty hard time keeping track of what we had eaten.  Only one course remains in my mind.  Smoked caviar served under a cloche.  It was not only delicious but I loved the drama of the smoky reveal. Fast forward to 2013.  I had the great pleasure […]

Reflect

September 11, 2015 by inanyeventblog

Everyone remembers where they were 14 years ago on this day. 9/11 was my first day of In Any Event.  My first day working for myself.  I could tell you my story…how I crumbled onto the floor when I watched the second plane hit.  About the weddings I planned for widows and survivors. The people I knew. But it’s not really the point I want to make.  Today is not about me. Remember 2,977 victims, their families and friends. We thank […]

Rain or Shine

August 14, 2015 by inanyeventblog

For anyone hosting a wedding at home, please allow me to share some simple advice. Hope for the best, plan for the worst. The secret to a tented wedding is to have a great Plan B….with a generator, a back up generator, and a dream team of vendors who smile through it all. Below, we started building the tent Tuesday just as the weatherman announced tornado warnings in the area.  Who ever heard of tornados in the Hamptons? Well, just the threat.  And […]
